Jef Barbara is an intriguing electronic music artist from Montreal. With fingers heavy with rings and eyes heavy with makeup, this entertainer is decidedly unforgettable. However, to evaluate Jef Barbara on his queer-like style alone would not do justice to his talent. His melodies are catchy, immersive, and intricate. His first EP launched in 2009 with his band called Jef and the Holograms, followed by another album entitled Barbara Blanca. In 2010 he released a cassette-only full-length album, with definite inspirations from David Bowie and George Michael, if they were mixed with electronica. Nevertheless, Jef Barbara is to be appreciated on stage, with all the theatrics that make his music whole.
